Want to make your own monster puppet? This Halloween season, we are teaming up with ventriloquist/puppeteer Kellie Haines and artist Greg Robinson in this fun and interactive puppet-making workshop!
We will start the class with a basic hand puppet made from a sock and cardboard—and then we will let our creativity run wild, adding their features (eyes, nose, hair, horns, ears, wings—anything you want!). Your puppet will have the character and personality YOU want it to have.
After the workshop participants are invited to join a “Monster Mash” march around the Museum and maybe even stop for some candy!
Kamilla the frog and Magrau the bird will also be there to meet you and your new puppet monster friends.
Date: October 26th, 2024
Time: 10:30am - noon
Tickets: $35 per puppet (plus fees and taxes)

About the Artists:
Kellie Haines started talking to her puppets at the age of eight, and when they started talking back she knew she had a show. Now a celebrated ventriloquist, puppeteer and family entertainer, Kellie’s shows combine witty repartee with puppet characters everyone can relate to.
Puppets have stories to tell and they can bring out voices and characters from inside us that we didn’t know were there! Kellie was invited to consult, perform and present workshops at museums including the Museum of Anthropology during their exhibition of Shadows, Strings and Other Things. She performs at festivals, and in schools and theatres across Canada. She has also shared her puppetry talents on TV productions. Kellie’s technical skills with ventriloquism invites her audiences to experience storytelling in a unique and magical way. Her puppets, Kamilla the frog and Magrau the bird, are excited to join this spooky and fun workshop at the MOV!
Greg Robinson holds Bachelor's degrees in Art, Drama and Education. He is a seasoned arts educator, having taught elementary, high school and university students in a variety of settings from classrooms to museum education and as a faculty member at Capilano University's Arts and Entertainment Management program. Greg contributes script writing, set and prop design, construction and technical operation to Kellie Haines Ventriloquist productions. Greg is thrilled to be returning to the MOV for another puppet building workshop!
