Re-Connected: Indigenous Youth Summer Camp
August 16 – 20, 2021
Are you an Indigenous youth 14 to 18 years old and interested in connecting with your peers for a week of cultural immersion? Do you want to learn about how museums work and gain an understanding of how stories, objects and shared experiences shape our collective understanding of the city?
The Museum of Vancouver (MOV) is hosting a five-day summer camp just for you!
Led by Museum of Vancouver’s Indigenous Programs and Community Engagement Coordinator, you will spend each morning learning about different roles at museums with MOV staff and afternoons immersed in cultural teachings from Indigenous knowledge holders and other cultural teachers.
Eligibility:
This program is for Indigenous youth, between the ages 14-18 years. We have opportunities for 12 indigenous youth!
What Will you Gain?
Knowledge of different roles at MOV
Mentorship
Workshops with local Coast Salish artist, first generation Chinese Canadian artists, and other Indigenous artists.
Study visits in the Museum of Vancouver collection area
Participate in an Education program
Receive a gift for attending the full five-day camp
Free lunch and snacks provided by local Indigenous caterers.
