Summer Solstice is a significant day for many cultures worldwide, and for the planet itself!  Come celebrate and learn about solstice with a 19+ summer kick-off party at the Museum of Vancouver and H.R. MacMillan Space Centre.

In honour of the longest day of the year, these two organizations will open the doors of their unique building for an engaging partnership event filled with activities, lectures, traditional storytelling, Star Theatre shows, exhibitions, drinks, games, music, food and so much more.

First Nations knowledge holders Woody Morrison and Latash Nahanee will perform Solstice themed storytelling. Participants will learn how the Haida and Squamish approach and celebrate Solstice on this day, one that is now recognized as National Indigenous Peoples Day. Knowledge holders will be joined by Dr. Cecil Konijnendijk, Professor at the UBC Faculty of Forestry and Keely Langford, Park Interpreter at Metro Vancouver Parks to animate biological interpretations of Solstice and seasonal change in our city.

Grab a drink, wander through MOV feature exhibitions, drift into the Space Centre where you will learn more about why our planet has seasons, how seasons affect other planets in the solar system, and how we will search for life on other worlds in the galaxy.

Roasted Revolution

The revolution is upon us, and turns out it's roasted to perfection. Roasted Revolution is taking to the streets, serving up a whole lot in the way of roasted eats. Because to them, that simple corn on the cob is an empty palette to which they're adding a whole lot of colorful ingredients, making it an instant palate pleaser!

Taste of Heaven

Taste of Heaven is a social enterprise from NightShift Street Ministries, a non-profit organization in Surrey that feeds love, hope, purpose and nightly meals to people who are stuck in some of life’s most difficult situations – poverty, addiction, mental illness, homelessness and loneliness. Every meal purchased at Taste of Heaven supports NightShift’s nightly outreach and daily continuing care services for these special friends.

Our menu, like our mission, is simple. Delicious, mouth-wateringly good gourmet sausages in a bun, served with all natural potato chips, and thirst-quenching, hand-brewed soda. Every sandwich is made on the spot, with the freshest ingredients. Our sausages in a bun (including a vegetarian option) are so satisfyingly scrumptious, we know you’ll come back for more! But don’t take our word for it – tasting is believing!
