About the translator:
Victor Guerin is a hən̓q̓əmin̓əḿ language teacher and also a sessional instructor at SFU who has worked for both his own community, the Musqueam Indian Band, and the Language department at Tsleil-Waututh Nation. In addition to his vast cultural knowledge, he earned a Master of Linguistics from Simon Fraser University.
Victor has been working for more than 30 years on hən̓q̓əmin̓əḿ language preservation and is happy to create recordings that will become a resource to educate Museum staff and visitors on how to correctly pronounce some of the local place names and resources that were known to his ancestors.
