The Museum of Vancouver has identified Redress and Decolonization as a priority for not only exhibition practice, but institutional change. Redress and Decolonization can be accomplished in many ways from increased visibility of Indigenous histories and cultural expression to programming that specifically identifies, addresses, and corrects a social imbalance. While the Museum once contributed to the systemic issues facing Indigenous communities, the organization now recognizes the opportunity, through repatriation and proactive redress, to become part of the process of change and address the behaviours, attitudes and policies of the past.
